The Rundown: Ines discovers her destiny when she discovers a relic of her people that needs to be returned.
Ines has left her home in Puerto Rico in order to pursue her archaeological dreams. A move that causes a rift between her and her grandmother who wants her to stay. As she makes her way in the world, she gets an internship at a museum where a wealthy benefactor has decided to showcase an object called El Corazon which has ties to the island and its indigenous culture.
Dealing not only with the disrespect of the people she works with, she also must come to terms with her connection to her people and the object that has an interesting connection to the island. An object she decides should be returned by stealing it from the museum and making a dangerous journey home.
The Story: Ayala crafts a fun, thrilling and engaging adventure in this issue. The characters are interesting and dynamic. There is great action throughout and a wonderful story that is compelling and entertaining. I really enjoyed the pacing, action and cultural connection this story exudes. It’s a fun and interesting take on the Indiana Jones style archaeological adventure.
The Art: Partridge delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the lush imagery of the jungle and the character designs are fantastic.
